The ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne not only reaffirmed the commitment to advancing cooperation across traditional domains but also provided a new frontier in the realm of data security and payment solutions. 

While the ASEAN-Australia Special Summit in Melbourne showcased a plethora of initiatives spanning economic, socio-cultural, and environmental domains, a distinct twist emerged with the announcement of a groundbreaking package of initiatives aimed at bolstering the South East Asian Economy.  

The initiatives included: 

  • A $2 billion Southeast Asia Investment Financing Facility (SEAIFF). 

  • $140 million over four years to extend the Partnerships for Infrastructure Program.  

  • Appointing 10 Business Champions to facilitate greater commercial links between Australia and the economies of ASEAN. T 

  • The launch of regional technology 'Landing Pads' in Jakarta and Ho Chi Minh City.  

  • Improving visa access for Southeast Asia.
